COVID19 – Safeguarding Policy Addendum

UPDATE 24.03.2020

The country is in lockdown and it is clear that our approach of only sending children to school as a last resort, where there is absolutely no other safe option is the right one. Providing childcare for minimum numbers with minimum staff will save lives. We remain open today and will continue to provide childcare for the corona critical networks only.

Mrs Joule

UPDATE 23.03.2020

This week we open our school for the children of key workers because their work is critical to the UK’s COVID-19 response and we are proud and happy to do so.

To those parents who are sending their children to school, I make this heartfelt plea to please think of the following each and every day:

·       DO NOT send your child if there is someone else at home who can look after them.

·       DO NOT send your child if you have a day off.

·       DO social distance yourself as much as possible if your child is going to be in school.

·       DO keep them home if they, yourself or someone you have been around has the symptoms of Coronavirus.

The staff who are in school are there to help those who really need somewhere for their child to go while their parents continue to do those really important jobs needed during this pandemic, NOT to be free childcare.

The staff at Mablins Lane do not have the luxury many others have to decide to social distance.

In these difficult times we need to look after each other.

If you are a key worker and have been given permission for your child to attend school , please ensure there is no other option before sending your child to school.

Gavin Williamson (Secretary of State for Education) has sent out the following message.

“You should only send your child to school if you have to, because your work is critical to our COVID-19 response. If you are able to keep your child at home you should.”

Schools are closed to stop the spread of the virus. Please remember this.

Thank you to all those key workers who have sorted additional childcare or only taken up the days they really need to.

If you are a key worker and have been told that you can bring your child to school but have now been able to sort childcare on all or some of the days offered, please let us know as soon as possible.

The school has the right to and may ask that your employer confirms in writing that, based on their business continuity arrangements, your specific role is necessary for the continuation of this essential public service.
