We have had a very busy few weeks in Year 4 since our last blog. Last week we made an amazing ‘discovery’ on the school playground as 2 ‘Roman’ artefacts were found by our site manager whilst he was putting in new fence posts. The ‘valuable coin and ruby’ were taken away by a local archaeologist who confirmed that they were indeed Roman and worth over £1 million pounds! The children really enjoyed becoming newspaper reporters for the week and writig about the amazing discovery, this week we will be typing our reports onto special newspaper-style paper.
In Maths we have been focusing on working with decimals and solving problems involving £’s and p’s (something we all could do with help with on a regular basis). Now we are moving onto learning how to convert between units of time and really, really, really trying to practice our x tables as much as possible as we will be sitting our online tests in June. Here is a link( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkEVq-uwMeE ) to a video on YouTube which shows a trick for learning the 6’s as an example of some of the resources out there. Please try to encourage your child to practice in any way they can to improve their ability to quickly recall as many x tables facts as possible. Any questions please come in and see your child’s class teacher.
Thank you for your continued support
